New Set up problems.

I have 2 problems with my PC

1. the BIOS won't let me keep my newly fitted SSD as the default boot device - the SSD appears in the list of boot devices (F8) but not in the normal (order) list of boot devices - so every time that I reboot, I have to go via F8

2. My Thunderbird set-up will not display a full screen width of text (when sending mail) - limiting me to txt rather than HTML

Any suggestions on fixes for either of these problems greatfruitly received....

    ^^ Good call.

    Otherwise, perhaps you could install the MBR on a standard hard disk (so you can set the BIOS to boot that disk) and have it pointing to the SSD... Or do all PCs use UEFI now... I'm a bit out of date with how it all works now... :-/

    Thanks - I prefer not to touch my BIOS (Last time I tried - on an old PC - I killed the motherboard) - besides, this PC is less than a year old - so should be reasonably up to date .....
    I have got the BIOS to recognise the SSD as the boot device, by making the whole lot "unavailable" then adding the SSD in position 1 on its own....

    Are you sure? Did you attempt a BIOS recovery?

    Yes I did and it failed to recover - I even tried a new MoBo (borrowed from work) and that failed - so I am assuming that the BIOS update killed the processor....
    Hence I prefer to leave the BIOS as it is - at least it does run - nice and quick !!
    It was an old 4 core Q8300 !!

    For starters:-
    1. -> Options -> Account Settings
    2. -> Composition And Addressing
    3. Place a check in the box labeled "Compose messages in HTML format."
    4. Click "OK." All messages sent from Thunderbird will be sent in the HTML format.

    Erm... no. Perhaps some other problem. Maybe your PSU.

    Shame about the old system.
