Closing of an unused chimney (Temporary)

I'm currently using my fireplace for keeping Sky box etc, but debris from the chimney are coming down on to my electronics.
How do I close the chimney to prevent the debris from coming down?
Also, I don't want to close it permanently as we might decide to use it again (unlikely) or decide to sell the place for the new owner to use it.

You can get "chimney balloons" that temporarily block a chimney. Or see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/645351If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
