Credit card payment has gone into a black hole

I've just discovered I mis-directed my Barclaycard payment and it has gone to my wife's a/c that was closed last year.

No trace of it on-line. Will I be able to recover it? Am ringing Barclaycard on Monday.

Should be no problem. They have the money; they'll have no trouble finding it once you tell them where you paid it to.

    No. First Direct to Barclaycard.

  • You can ring them today - they are open weekends!

If you have the account number it was paid onto they will be able to trace it but won't be able to transfer it to your account without speaking to your wife (if it's been credited to her account).

Exactly. Your wife will likely have to instruct Barclaycard to either return the funds to where they came or send them out in cheque form.

Have now contacted Barclaycard and as expected they also spoke to my wife. (Some odd security questions to her, btw.) They've undertaken to correct my error.
