Unable to reply to e-mails after Windows Update.

Hi
I have just restarted my computer (Asus X53E laptop) after a Windows Update.
The computer configured the update and restarted.
I logged into my BT Yahoo to read my web-mail. Reading the e-mails is no problem; but when I try to reply to them I get a message displayed that reads:
Not only is the original e-mail that I am trying to reply not displayed; but I am unable to type my reply in and the send button does not seem to work.
I had first presumed that this was BT Yahoo issue given the message displayed.
But if I read my e-mail on my Ipad I can reply without any problems.
Update: Even if I try to compose a new e-mail rather than reply; the problem persists. I can put the cursor into the 'To' 'CC' and 'Subject' boxes but I cannot enter any text here or in the main body where I would write the e-mail.
What's going on and how can I sort it out?
I'd appreciate any help or advice you can give; though please keep your replies plain and easy to understand if at all possible!
Thanks.

BT Yahoo! Mail found the original email, but encountered problems displaying it. Please try again later.

What browser are you using? First thing to do is try and view it on a different browser.
So if using say IE9, try it in Chrome or Firefox.
What OS (operating system) are you running on your laptop? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Apologies for not providing that information!

Operating system is Windows 7 and browser is Firefox.
I'll try another browser now...0 -
No; it does not work in I.E. (I'm not sure which version I have) or in Chrome (which I have never used before) either.

Yahoo (I am assuming because it looks different) rolled out an update which always means problems. Nothing to do with Windows.
In Chrome I can insert addressed using the + but cannot type
In IE10 I can get a little further by getting the cursor to blink in some of the boxes but again cannot type.
See here for multiple users experiencing the same issue.
As for me I have switched to basic and am able to write emails again.
Mail Options>Advanced Settings>Basic>Save
Doesn't save the setting so it'll have to be done each time you enter the mail programme.0 -
Hi
Thanks for the info and the link.
I have tried to do as you say (Mail Options>Advanced Settings>Basic>Save) and change back to basic mail.
However I can see no setting for changing back to basic mail.
This is the window that I have:0 -
I have the exact same screen, but I can scroll down the page past "sending messages" which shows me "spam protection" and "advanced settings".
If you can't scroll then zooming out a couple times (ctrl and -) might show up the whole page.
Otherwise that's the limit of the help I can offer you i'm afraid.0 -
Sorry; I was only able to capture part of the window.
Here is the remainder of the window:
But I still can't see where to change it back to basic :huh:0 -
Ah now that's different to mine. I use web based Yahoo, not linked to BT.
Perhaps a google might point you in the direction of changing it in the BT version?0 -
Thanks.
I've tried Googling for to see I how I can change back to basic mail in BT Yahoo and all the results that I can see just refer to Yahoo mail.
I thought that the whole point of BT Yahoo changing to it's current format was that it would be exactly the same as the rest of Yahoo mail?
The other thing I don't understand is, if it's a problem with Yahoo, why I can still reply to my e-mails and compose new e-mails and send them via my Ipad? :huh:0 -
I just tried to compose an email on BT Yahoo webmail, and I get the same error, and I haven't yet put this week's Windows Updates on the computer, so it's not linked to that.
The reason it works on the iPad may be that it's using the mobile version of the site, which I think still works.
To test this, trying going to http://m.yahoo.com/ on your computer (not the iPad), then click on "Mail" and see if it works.
Won't be as pretty but you should at least be able to send messages.
I understand BT are moving away from Yahoo shortly anyway.0
