Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Looks like a nice day here, will get the wm on the go after this need to drop dd at work in a while.

Still waiting for dd tutor to get back to us, but we are both thrilled to bits with her results.

I need to nip to the next village to pick up some empty storage boxes (plastic ones with lids) we are going to empty the bedroom today and OH needs some to put his binoculars / cameras in to protect them from dust, then we can crack on with stripping the paint.

Pizza and coleslaw for dinner, and a large glass of wine after a hard day working !

Have good days all

Camelot hope you are ok after your break in xx

  • Good morning redruby and to all who cross/follow,
Congratulations to your dd redruby :j. She did so well, no wonder you are one proud mum x
Camelot, sorry to hear of your break in. Such an awful thing to happen x
Sunny here at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to get some washing dry today.
Need to have a hoover through and a flick over with the duster. The girls have got to have a tidy up in their room. How they manage to get their room in such a mess so quickly is beyond me.
Tea tonight is turkey chilli with rice and I am having fish with salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning :hello:

redruby congratulations to Miss redruby :T

Camelot how awful, are you OK?

LameWolf the chickens would love a cuddle, if you sit in their run they'll all flock to you, one will sit on your feet, one will stand in front of you stamping her feet until you pick her up, one will jump onto your shoulder and two will jump onto your lap :D

The shredder is broken, it was whirring away and suddenly starting crunching loudly, loads of bits of plastic had broken off inside and got caught up in the metal shreddy things. It's beyond help :D Have ordered a new one and will resume annoying the others trus with it when it arrives :D

I was exhausted by mid-morning yesterday so spent the day lazing around. Mr tru asked me if I wanted a roast dinner, I didn't answer, just looked at him like this blankstare.gif Then master tru rang and said a few of them were going to the pub at 5pm, did we want to come? It's his last day at work so this was a mini leaving do. Couldn't resist so I dragged myself there, a bit untidy and half asleep but I was clean so that's OK :D I was sooo wound up with the other trus by this point and threw a very shouty fit. I checked my dentist rules and it was OK for me to have a drink, so I was looking forward to a large bacardi. The pub had just run out  Stella it is then, and plenty of it, thanks very much. No hangover this morning :D

I have a few things to catch up with around the house – only my stuff, I'm not touching anyone else's  I started sanding the bathroom door frame the other day, upgraded to a paintscaper when I realised there were about 45 layers of paint. It was taking too long and was too fiddly so I took the easy way out and bought some nitromors, lol. I'll get that done this morning.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Camelot - am so sorry to hear about your break in. :(

Weather looks like being awful here today so am planning on a huge tidy and cleaning session. Then getting clothes ready for work next week. Have a couple of little ebay parcels to pack up and post too.

Not much else going on but will report back later if anything exciting happens!

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs to those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

  • Dry here today so washing is on the line and another load in the machine.

Camelot (((Hugs))) I know how you feel, we were burgled just before Christmas that is the second time in 18 years :(
It feels awful just knowing that someone has invaded your home and it takes a long time to feel safe again.

Ruby well done to your DD :T

DH and DS are painting the soffit today so I had better get them up.

    Morning all,

    Camelot, how awful, big hugs

Usual Saturday morning clean and then hubby is going to tackle the ceiling where we had the leak. Once its plastered we can begin decorating and finally put up my new curtains:D

Need to nip to Mr T's for some cocoa and dried fruit and I shall do some baking this afternoon.

Recorded Sense and Sensibility last night so that will be my treat later this afternoon once all my jobs are done. (I've already seen it several times)

Need to drag ds3 out of bed for his breakfast. He finished his stint in the gym at the hotel last night and begins his job as a concierge at the end of August. In between next weekend is the Leeds festival which is over excited about:eek:

Tea tonight will be Basa fillets with chilli and lime and roasted veg, yum

Have a good day all x

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and hope they have a fantastic Saturday.

Have a pretty busy day ahead today. A baby shower this afternoon (first one I have ever been to) and a 50th birthday dinner to go to tonight! This is pretty unusual for me as I like to have quiet Saturdays and not have to rush around so much!

    Morning everyone :D

Sunshine and showers here. Don't fancy my chances on cutting lawn so that can be tomorrow's job.
I have got to hoover, kitchen needs a good scrub (I cleaned behind the cooker yesterday :eek::eek:mow does it collect so much crud?!) and will do some more packing.
DS is off with his grandad to Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb so only DD at home. It's kinda quiet. Bliss ;)

Pizza for tea. HM of course ;)

Camelot sorry about the burglary :( hope you're OK xx

Redruby well done to Miss RR x

Hugs and spoons all round xx

Morning all - I've been cleaning the kitchen and have filled a box for the charity shop in the process.

DH is doing the shopping and I am finishing off drying the washing - 20 minutes in the tumble as it just didn't dry yesterday afternoon and it's too grey and damp today for the line.

When I get my breath back I'll be vacuuming the back room. Wow, I should do this more often :o

Hoping DH will help me put together the bathlift, at the moment he's treating it like a roundabout as I left it in the middle of the landing as a hint.

Have the best day you can x

    Morning all, Happy Weekend :)

Not feeling like doing much this morning, car needs repair work done, uni funding application rejected, house is more of a tip than usual and 10 gallons of booze needs bottled soon to get the fermenters out from under my feet. I need a kick up the bum just to figure out where to begin with the day!

I've got YS soup stuff in the freezer so I might go make that up for a cheap lunch. No dinner ideas yet but a shopping trip may be needed, unless I can rustle something up from the freezer (I have frozen burgers but will need to buy baps and salad or something), and chocolate cake making is on the list for today!

I hope you all have a good day, peace, love and penguins xx
