Is this rust on the back of this fridge?

i.e. does rust look like that?

Is there anybody ehere that'd say there is something there that definitely isn't rust or definitely isn't just rust?

note: I know I have to put the padding back. I have a friend that knows a bit about fridges but he is away at the moment but apparently it just slides back in so that's no issue.

Wow, that fridge is quite old!

No, it's not rust. It's yellow foam inbetween the outside walls and the internal walls. Over time, due to heat dissipated by the fridge, the foam becomes slightly molten.

It's part of the fridge for insulation.

thanks. I think I see what it is now!

    Polyurethane foam

Apparently they also use dye in the refrigerant so one can see if it leaks, and if that was on the back it'd be a problem, but what is on the back of my fridge doesn't look like that apparently.

pic of Polyurethane foam (though it doesn't look yellow in that pic)
