Help with Virgin...

hi guys I really need your help as I've never faced such situation... I've been with Virgin for more than 3 years, whilst living in 3 different places... now I've decided to move to a new place (again yeah..)... I've sent them an email informing of my new move and expressing my interest of taking their current services with me, to my new place.
They just came back to me saying that "After checking the network in your area it looks like we’re unable to provide Virgin Media’s Super Fast Broadband to your address, but we may be able to arrange an offer with an alternative provider for you today. We’ve teamed up with Simplifydigital who are a broadband comparison service that look at the whole market to help find the best deal. Would you like me to refer you through to them so that they can arrange a deal for you?"

I then called them to understand what would happen to my existing 12 months contract (still 8 left) and they said that they need to apply the early termination fee worth of £180 ?!?!? So my question to you guys is whether there's a way of sorting this out as I really wanted to keep my services with them but then they just can't and obviously you don't choose a a new property based on your broadband provider... your help would be much appreciated, many thanks

  • There is no way out of the early termination fee. You are the one who chose to move to a new house that has no access to VM. It is not their fault or actions that have caused this situation. You entered into a contract now you have abide by its Ts & Cs.

Your contract is at the current address-not any other address in the UK, and VM only service about 60% of the country.
You can move the phone and broadband to Virgin National, which is just a resold BT ADSL service (and doing so will start you on a new 12m contract), so it's not recommended.
But as far as the TV goes you must pay the ETC.
Same question is asked on here several times each week: the answer does not change.

Since broadband is exchange-specific, do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com for your available LLU providers.
If you are comng off VM cable, then you may want an FTTC service if available.

thanks so much.... Im getting nuts with this as there's so many options and I don't have an enough knowledge on the market in england.. I'm just looking for a tv, broadband and phone package and my requirements would be great broadband speed, a medium tier tv package and a phone just to receive calls mostly... could you help? I also don't know if there's an tv aerial on the property so how can I select a provider that doesnt require one? Confused!!! My postcode is IG10 4PP - thanks so much!!!

None of the two major subscription TV services requires an aerial. Sky comes via a sat dish, Virgin Media via cable (if your area is enabled for cable).
'Medium tier' TV package is meaningless I'm afraid. You need to decide what channels you require. Similarly 'great' broadband speed. If you want cable speeds, then you need cable or FTTC, not ADSL.
Subscription-free services are available via Freesat (dish) or Freeview (aerial). You don't sign up for these, you just plug in your own equipment.
I'm puzzled as to your lack of knowledge of how it works if you've been on VM for 3 years in 3 different properties?
So many options? Your only LLU providers on the Loughton exchange are Sky or TalkTalk.

PS: surely your estate agent can tell you if there is an aerial?
