Selfridges store card / creation finance

Hi

I'm new here. I was very recently accepted for an asda credit card by creation finance ( because it offered cash back on shopping and petrol ). I have since found that they back the selfridges store card also. Is it wrong to assume I would be accepted for that also if I left it a few months? I won't be running up debts, just using to get special offers and extra discounts then mostly paying in full.
I haven't the best credit history in the world but I've been managing credit very well over last 12 months or so after having none for last 3 years other than mobile contracts.

Not sure if same company means acceptance or if store cards are harder to obtain.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure that the Selfridges store card offers any benefits when shopping in Selfridges

I think you have to apply in store

There are people on this forum with multiple Creation cards

Hi CandyApple I had an entire range oof Creation cards as GuessWho mentioned. In the beginning of my credit card career I was wary so just targetted Creation (cause I knew they were easy about it) and US cards like Amex.

At one point I had 9 with Creation.... closed some now though...

I doubt that store cards will be around much longer - Creation has reduced it's range

    It's always dangerous to assume;)

You will be credit scored again, whether you pass is dependent on your circumstances at the time.
  • Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if I could obtain seperate products from the same credit company, and if I'm accepted for one and managed it well would easily obtain another?!
I shop at selfridges a lot and like he idea of extra discounts off in sales or VIP events.
Was pleasantly surprised I was accepted with a £950 limit with previous poor credit history.

  • Wow, that's a lot, lol. Are store cards harder to get than credit cards? I seem to have been accepted for two credit cards in last 6 months, but turned down for a store card.

    i wouldn't touch anything from Creation, they're a nightmare.

and the Asda card is not a great deal.

i would just get a good credit card to use for all of your spending. i use Amex, backed by Barclaycard, and earn cashback on everything i spend.
  • Thanks for the advice, however my previous history was rubbish so I can only get accepted for certain things. Was surprised at this one tbh. Was only wondering if I got one product from creation would I easily get another after a few months?

ah, yes...we are duplicating our discussion Watkins..

why would you want to? you need more available credit? i would just use the card you have, as can be used anywhere. i wouldnt open any store cards. and when things improve i would apply for a new card with another provider, perhaps Barclaycard, CapitalOne or MBNA.

Just to add a little balance, I have held various creation cards for around 9 years now without any issues.
  • Thanks cash flow. It was just clarification on if this was possible or not as I've only just got back on track having a card again and paying it off each month to rebuild credit.
