How long to process Pension Credit claim?

Hi, Does anyone know how long it is currently taking to process a Pension Credit claim? My Dad applied over the phone on 16/7 and still hasn't heard anything. I was surprised that they haven't asked for any evidence (i'm sure I've read before you have to send in birth certficates etc ?) My parents housing benefit can't be calculated until they know how much PC he will be getting and the housing association are getting antsy because they haven't been paid!

Not usually that long if its a new claim. If more info is needed the letter requesting it is normally sent out straight away.
Your dad needs to ring the new claims section on 0800 991234 to find out whats happening.0 -
They just said they will put in an email request to see what's happening as they can't give further information, acknowledgment of the email can take up to 5 working days!0

I wouldn't stop paying rent to the HA due to awaiting PC to be honest. Pay in full and it can all be sorted out later. Better your Dad is owed money than the HA.0

Mine took about four weeks back in 2009.It's someone else's fault.0

Did they say they needed any information when they took the teleclaim?
Have your parents got any private pensions, earnings savings over £10k etc that would need to be verified?
A whole load of reasons why they have not been paid but I would wonder why they have not heard anything so would suggest they call the number given and ask to speak to someone from the Pension Centre dealing with the claim - they should then be able to transfer the call to someone who actually has access to the correct systems and will be able to explain the reason for the delay.0
