Cat toilet

One of our neighbours cats is starting to get on my nerves as it has recently started to use my drive as a toilet!
I came home from 2 weeks holiday rcently to 5 or 6 patches of plop on the paved area under the front window, my driveway which is 2 cars wide is also being used a loo as the cat sits under the cars most evenings and possibly just thinks its convenient to poo there just before it goes home!
I don't wish any physical harm to the cat but I want to discourage it.
Several google suggestions I have read are more suited to grassy areas but this cat seems to like my flat, flagged driveway.
Any ideas what I can wash the driveway in - maybe a weak bleach wash which might double up as a weed killer.
Thanks

How about planting some plants with smells that cats hate?
According to this website, they hate lavender, rue, geranium, absinthe or lemon thyme.
I don't know if that works, but at least it make your drive looks pretty.0 -

Thanks for the reply but its a flagged driveway where we park 2 cars so I'm not sure where I could plant anything. Pots might be an option but the cats sit under my cars so unless lavender will put off a cat at a few metres then that might not work.
My wife just sent me a message to say there were a couple of new presents under her car this morning!0 -
Are you sure it's the cats and not foxes? Cats tend to poo in soil areas as they bury their stuff, but foxes just drop it where ever...
Of course you might live next door to a cat that thinks is a fox!0 -
My cats love the smell of bleach, they go nuts and you'd think they had cat nip.0

Are you certain that it is specifically the neighbour's cat? Have you actually watched it and positively identified it?One of our neighbours cats is starting to get on my nerves as it has recently started to use my drive as a toilet!
How is the cat supposed to poo - which they do sitting up - if its under the car?as the cat sits under the cars most evenings and possibly just thinks its convenient to poo there just before it goes home!
Cats are clean animals and don't just poo anywhere. They like grass or soil. You may, however, have a deranged cat on your hands.Several google suggestions I have read are more suited to grassy areas but this cat seems to like my flat, flagged driveway.
I'm inclined to agree with fluff and that it might be a fox but they also poo crouching or semi-standing. Methinks they just might be a lack of headroom under the car. The other alternative, if it appears under the car overnight, is that it might be a hedgehog.
Cat, fox and hedgehog poo are all quite different from one another so at least you should be able to identify the species if not the actual culprit.

If it is a cat then this works for me. I love cats and will do nothing to hurt them. They dislike citrus fruits especially orange, so sprinkle orange peel pieces where you want to discourage pooing.
Also if you have a water pistol fill it with water mixed with a little orange juice or oil, they hate to be squirted, and it will deter them.
Also, there are some plants they hate so maybe sprinkle cuttings in the area they use to toilet.
Good luck.0 -
Update - Although there has definitely been cat poo a cat loving friend of mine has suggested its more likely to be fur balls or other stuff that some cats seem to routinely throw up!
She told me that sometimes its hard to distinguish between sloppy droppings and stuff they throw up - all very disgusting.
She said the signs are often that that there are several 'deposits' set apart from each other which for a couple of nights is exactly what we have had.
So, when it stops raining i'm going to try the weak bleach wash and see if it discourages.
And although I haven't seen the animal doing business with my own eyes, the same cat is regularly seen under my car. Up till now I haven;t bothered but I will definitely be shooing it away from now on.0 -
a squirt from a water pistol every time you see it will do the trick , it will associate your garden with getting wet and hopefully do it's business elsewhere0
