Not only that imo how to decline isn't 100% obvious as there is no button for that. I just close the pop up rather than click remind me later link but as macman says up it pops next time around.

The pop-over doesn't work with some browsers(Opera in my case)...so I use that browser when I open the webpage.

They helpfully tell me that my browser isn't compatible, but interestingly it works perfectly. I just don't get the Trusteer pop-over. ;)

Avast, Anti-vir & Comodo are all free A/V programs worth looking at. You can also install 'immunet' beside your regular A/V for extra cloud-based protection.

Trusteer are extremely reluctant to publish a detailed description of how it works, and there's been little analysis of it in the academic community. I've not looked at it in detail, and it's not really my area of research, but I've skimmed over the available publications and debate. In general terms, it's impossible for a piece of software to do what it claims: all they're doing is adding an additional component to your computer which looks for the behaviours that malware exhibits. But the bad guys can attack the Trusteer itself just as easily as attacking the system it's protecting.

I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say the protection is worthless. The same theoretical objection applies to virus scanners, and on balance they are probably of some small benefit for some people (although I don't use one myself). But I would be very surprised if Trusteer offers anything like the protection claimed, the things it hooks into are very fundamental, and if the bad guys had a serious run at it I think that they would be able to use it to do Very Bad Things.

So even though it's supported on my current laptop OS I would avoid it were my bank to offer it. If I got a sense of "install this or we won't cover you for fraud" I would either switch bank, or use some minority OS on which Trusteer would never be supported (a Solaris VM or something) and dare my bank to object.

Just thinking aloud, if Rapport is so wonderful, would Trusteer reimburse/compensate me for any inconvenience and/or losses incurred whilst using their product correctly?

I thought not, so one more reason to avoid it. :)

    p.s. dcm

    Move along, nothing to see.

There's no such thing as "fully protected".

Virus scanners can only spot viruses that they are programmed to recognise. If a hacker releases a completely new virus, your virus scanner won't detect it until the anti-virus company has seen it and programmes in a new signature.

So there's a few days after a new virus is released when nothing will detect it.

The most important thing that will stop viruses getting installed on a PC is you.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Rapport is a resource hog and not the best security around. As others have said a good av and firewall is the best defence. Personally I've got a software and hardware firewall, MSE (I changed from Avast after years), Script Sentry (which warns if anything is writing to the registry) and SpywareBlaster. I also do a weekly scan with Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and Ccleaner. They usually pick up stuff the AV has missed.
