With immediate effect for new members and from 23 September for current members the new signature requirement for sellers will come into force.
Previously items over £150 required a signature upon receipt, this is now being raised to £750. I shall update the sticky in due course.

Hello,
As communicated to our users, we’ve made some changes to the eBay.co.uk User Agreement ( UK User Agreement) , eBay Buyer Protection Policy and International Selling agreement. These are effective immediately for new members, and on 23 September 2013 for current members.
Here is a summary of the main changes:
· We've updated the wording and format of our User Agreement and eBay Buyer Protection policy and International Selling Agreements to make them more transparent and easier to understand.
· We've added a new section to cover changes associated with the introduction of the eBay managed returns process to the User Agreement and also to the eBay Buyer Protection policy.
· We've made further changes regarding eBay Buyer Protection as summarised below (please see the eBay Buyer Protection Policy for the full details):
o We’re increasing the threshold where sellers are currently required to provide a signature confirmation proving delivery from £150 to £750
o As a seller – where you choose not to engage with the eBay Buyer Protection process on an item not as described case we may seek to carry out a reimbursement from you without requiring a return by the buyer.
o In limited situations we reserve the right to extend the period that buyers are eligible and sellers are responsible for resolving cases eg. national emergency, national holidays and labour strikes. When applicable this will be communicated via the announcements section of our site
As with earlier updates, other changes have been made to keep the User Agreement up to date with the products and services we provide.
You don’t need to take any further action to accept the new eBay User Agreement. If you choose not to accept the new terms, visit this help page for further information.
Thank you for being a part of the eBay community.
Regards,
The eBay Team

Can I ask how this will change things from before?
For example, if I previously sent an item valued at £175, I would have sent it via Royal Mail Special Delivery and got a signature.
Now, wouldn't I still need to use the same RM SD for an item of the same value, and get a signature anyway?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
...If you can fake that, you've got it made."

You don't need to use SD, you can use another carrier. The point being that the signature isn't required unless the order is £750 or more.
There are lots of couriers that have services covering amounts over £150 that don't collect a signature.0
