Curtain poles, plaster board walls!

Bought a new build house and bought some curtain poles to put up.

All went well in the first bedroom but in the second bedroom the walls are plasterboard with a gap then onto breeze blocks.

Am I ok to use the standard rawlplugs that came with the pole or do I need to buy something special?

If you have a look at these, this is what I used for the same problem

    http://www.tooled-up.com/MicroCategory.asp?MAN=Self-Drill-Fixings&CID=22&SCID=563&MCID=2522

    B&Q have them also.

What I did is used these then screwed a piece of 2x1" board across the top of the window painted it colour of walls and thenattached the curtain pole to that.
This means in the future you can attach any other curtain pole to the wood plus the added benefit of giving a little bit more support.

    Hope this helps

I don't really want to fix wood to the wall, so would I be able to use these in the holes I've already drilled?

One of the poles I've got is 280cm wide, just hoping the wall is solid in our living room.

You can obtain a cavity wall plug from B&Q if you ask an assistant they should be able to find them quick enough for you, they just open up behind the board when you insert the screw.

    You can view one here

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rawlplug-Interset-Cavity-Fixings-Screws/dp/B0001P0LDA

I wouldn't buy them online unless you have the specific product details for your purposes as they come in many sizes and your sure to get the wrong size if you don't.

Alternative is to drill though to the breeze block and use a very long screw. Make sure the wallplug is oushed through and sits in the breeze block. Very solid way of doing it.

steel butterfly plugs are the best for cavity walls. very reliable.
or, as last poster said, use a long screw/rawlplug into the actual wall itself. the best way.
    Get some gorm.
