I have just completed one also, strange thing was no hard search all unrecorded. But they did look at the case 3 days before completion again
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

That has what has come up on mine today 2 x unrecorded searches. I assume there 'soft searches' - wouldn't it be nice to be able to sit with someone who could do it there and then - Oh the thought ;)

I just got a mortgage with Halifax, not sure if the old 1 in 12 is true, but basically the did soft search, full search then multiple soft searches - then curiously another full search after first mortgage payment came out! Being curious I phoned and asked why - got through to someone who knew their stuff and they said there is a final automated full search to conclude the offer and move it to a different state. *shrugs*

    Interesting.

When I worked for the Halifax a search certainly wasn't part of the mortgage completion process.

Can't see the point of it, if they found something adverse after they've advanced the money, there's not much they can do about it, unless they are going to start asking for their money back!
