I just signed on to Netflix and want to watch it through my TV. I have a Macbook and a Sonia Bravia TV. What to I need? Is it a HDMI lead?

Probably, yes, that's what I needed for my iPad.
Plenty of cheap long HDMI lead on amazon.I thin I paid about £5 for my 5m one.0 -
HDMI, or get apple TV and you don't need to have the mac directly plugged into the TV.0

Hi,
Does your mac have an HDMI connector?
I have a MacBookPro and had to buy a little adapter that plugs into the thunderbolt port on the left hand side.
This adapter is about 6 inches long and has a thunderbolt connector on one end for the Mac and a female HDMI on the other. I use a standard (cheapo Amazon) HDMI cable between the two.
I have this cable - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0017RW94A/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Adapter I bought off ebay similar to this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Thunderbolt-Mini-DisplayPort-DP-To-HDMI-Adapter-Fr-MacBook-Pro-Air-Apple-Tab-/380666204199?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item58a1795027
Select the correct HDMI input on the TV remote and the picture is Amazing. I use it to watch Netflix and also other streaming services on the big screen.
My Mac just recognises the TV is connected and the image appears on the TV.
Note - I think I had to go to the audio settings on the Mac and select a different output setting because the sound was still playing on the Mac and not through the TV but once I have did this it worked and is remembered every time.
Hope this helps.
PS - you can probably buy the official adapter and an HDMI cable from the Apple Store but the above option might offer a saving of around £50 or so0 -

Thanks so much. Now I understand what a Thunderbolt connector is. Have used your links and got both for under £6.00. I love this site. Everyone helps everyone. thanks again0 -
Have you ckecked if your TV can suoport the Netflix app directly? If it is a fairly recent smart model you might be able to do it without the messing about connecting your computer up.0

Also if you have a console, you can also view it through that.0
