Dishwasher lights flashing

Hi
last night I put my Hotpoint aquarius dishwasher on and went to bed, this morning all the sockets had tripped, I reset at the consumer unit and the dishwasher came back on...after about 20 minutes I noticed the on/off and start/pause buttons both had a rapid flashing green light and the 'drying' light was also flashing and a straining type noise was coming from the dishwasher. I turned it off by pushing the stop button but after about 10 minutes the same buttons started flashing again...and it keeps doing that all the time now so I will now switch it off at the socket .
I have been told that it may be the pump, but it occurs at the drying cycle...whats the opinion of the forum?
Thanks

If it's tripping the RCD or MCB (which was it?) then it's possible that you have an earth leakage or other electrical fault. Pump failure will result in a failure to drain, but wouldn't of itself trip the circuit out. Get a white goods enginer in to check it out and disconnect it in the meantime. No free lunch, and no free laptop
