Odd reply to SAR request to Natwest

Hi there
I'm helping a friend with a PPI claim with Natwest. An SAR was sent about two weeks ago and the they have now received a reply saying that they carried out a search for a mortgage account as requested and nothing was found. My friend did not ask for that, just sent in the SAR request with a cheque for £10.
What to do now? Surely they cannot ignore the original SAR request?

Different departments look for different things.

I'm not sure Taff, quite possible it wasn't the Data Controller hence the response. Is there a list of Data Controllers addresses for the banks on here?0

Apparently it was the Data Protection Team in Edinburgh.0
