Yep, he can polish the wheel arch but he needs paint for the door. The door and wheel arch is also fairly well dented and he doesn't have the tools to fix this, so we either put up with it or get it done by another garage. It's such a shame as the bodywork was immaculate bar a few stone chips before this.
The polishing/painting would take him less than an hour, but he has to buy a tin of paint for £10, so basically something that isn't our fault is costing him an hour of time and paint. That's why we tried to talk to them about it first. We are not ones for fighting for justice bla bla and what not. We tried to see if they'd come forward and be honest, they haven't, and we want the easy life rather than fighting a battle.
I should add as well that we really should've done our homework before even going to him in the first place. It ended up he has charged us the same for Mot and service as the official dealer.
Also, we were wanting to get a knock sensor fitted, we took it to him twice, he said it hadn't arrived first time and wasted a trip when he could've called, second time he had thought it was fitted in a different place and ended up saying he didn't have enough time to do it and it'd cost 50% more of the total cost in labour, £150, and that he had knocked £30 off because we were getting all the work done through him.
So we got a quote from the official dealer for £161 inc parts and VAT. So essentially without his so-called 'discount', he would've ended up charging us £20 extra than the DEALER to install the sensor.
All in all a thoroughly dishonest man.

Well we can't prove anything except that's where the car was all day. My OH used to be a bodywork technician so he could fix it, but the dents would need pulling out and he doesn't have the equipment, and I don't suppose the mazda garage would let us go into their repair shop and 'borrow' their tools!
They wouldn't have the tools, bodywork will be something they contract out to a local garage.... In fact they might even out source all of their servicing and MOT work too.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My OH has been this morning and they say that they apparently checked the CCTV and there was no damage, and I probably would've accepted that there and then.
Well, that is until they basically tried to back my OH in a corner for them to fix it (and charge for it) and saying that there's 'no way' it could polish out and needs a good bit of work doing to it.
My OH used to be a bodywork technician (he kept this fact quiet from them) and knows for a fact it could polish out, so looking rather suspicious that they apparently didn't cause the damage but then tried to blow the job up bigger to try and charge us more for something totally unnecessary, so even if somehow they hadn't caused the damage, they totally shot themselves in the foot as regards fixing it.
We're not going to take it any further, but today pretty much confirmed that they're cowboys and we will be taking our business elsewhere.Westmead_Fan wrote: »because polish don't get dents outs.

Why? The bit that needs polishing is only a part of the damage like I've said. This is the largest bit of damage overall, and when my OH took the car to him that is the bit he cast his eye over and sucked air through his teeth saying it definitely couldn't polish out. The dents and the chipped paint will need further work and expense e.g. tin of paint and getting the dents popped out.0
