XBox 360 Red Ring of Death AGAIN

Got my first 360 in Sept for my birthday and really enjoyed it till around February when it gave me a Ring of Death (ROD). So, I took it back to boots who gave me a full refund and then went to hmv (boots had no more) to get a new one. M$ offered to take my original console away and give me a (probably) refurbed box to replace it but I refused. Downside of this approach is that I have to restart all my games from the start but at least I get a full 12 months guarantee.

Here we are, 4 months later and the ROD is back. To add insult to injury, if the message boards are to be believed, it may have been caused by an update to Guitar Hero which was downloaded. So, I've had enough. I've returned the xbox to hmv for a full refund (initially told that as it was within 6 months I could just get a straight swap out - no thanks!) and the rest of my games are going on ebay. The only major annoyance is that the shop I bought GH2 from, which may have been the source of the ROD, are denying any responsibility and refusing to take the game back. Instead they're offering a trade in at less than half it's cost.

That's it. I have had enough of M$ and will not touch the 360 again until it's given away free in a McD Happy Meal!!!

  • For what it's worth I'd love to have a 360 but I refuse to buy something that will almost certainly break. It's also far too noisy so MS have lost a sale from me. PS3 is all very well but it has few compelling games as yet, but it's day will come...

[Dave Brooker] It's your fault - you should have picked up a PS3 and none of this would have happened. Stop whining and grow a spine, for God's sake. And, anyway, why are you playing children's games, when you should be down the pub drinking lager and talking about how stupid other people are?[/Dave Brooker]

Thing is, it's all about the games. Who wants to pay £425 for Motorstorm? Doesn't seem to be anything else worth having on the console yet. And besides, who's to say that PS3's won't brick themselves in months to come?

Still, there's a little part of me that's very tempted but I can't really justify it without a killer app. (Not until GTA4 comes out anyway...)

    Cheers

    Jeff

I've already seen a few faulty ones and our shop one is making some "strange" noises

Ta for that, I might just invest in a new graphics card for the PC and leave consoles alone until the 'next gen' comes out ;)

  • You could do.....while I enjoy all those GAMES on my GAMES console, PS3 or XBOX not sure, but then again alot of games are available for my liquid cooled Sony VAIO media centre XL

If you havent got one then you wont know how much fun it is.

Thing is, trying to make time to enjoy all this whilst leading a normal life.
