Boiler Breakdown Insurance Problem

Hi,
My Combi boiler broke down and i have no hot water or heating at present.
I am covered by the 24 hour emergency insurance so i rang the company and they sent out an engineer yesterday who says the circuit board has gone and that the part is £240.
My claim limit is £300 so he said i may have to pay roughly around £50 because it could go over the limit.
Company said they were getting a price on the part, then rang back earlier today saying the part is £350,bringing the total with VAT and labour to £495,and they want me to pay £195 to repair it!
I have looked online and the average price of this part on many websites is between £179-£200,which £300 would basically cover it,give or take a few quid!
I have complained to the company saying i am not happy with this price but they won't budge at the moment on this and are emailing me a breakdown of the charges tomorrow.
Any advice on where i stand would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Who provides your cover? Call their bluff. Tell them that you will supply the part and they can fit it for the labour cost only of £75 (you will only pay anythiing above the £300).
If they won't play ball, then cancel the policy and get a local independent GSR RGI to fit it instead. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Phoned heating engineer he says they are pulling my plonker basically!Money does not bring happiness...but if you are already happy it does bloody help! :rotfl:0

Another thought.....they said the part is £350 from their supplier, but i found loads for around £179 on the net!
Would any company really use a supplier that charges double the price for parts??
