Keeping landline number when moving

We hope to be moving soon and want to keep our landline number (it's the same exchange). This is a two-part question!

1. We have our line rental and phone service with New Call Telecom and 18185. We don't have any service from BT. So who do we have to ask to transfer the number to the new house?

2. There may be a gap of 2 or 3 weeks between moving out of our current house and into the new one...can we still take our phone number with us?

Thank you!

You ask your line rental provider.
Is there already an active BT-based line at the new property? If so, the occupiers presumably won't want their service disconnecting before they move out? You can't 'suspend' the transfer-once you apply it will be actioned and a date provided.

Yes, there is an active BT line at the new property. Oh well, if there's a gap between moving out of the old house and into the new one, I guess we will be having a new number! Thanks for the info.
