I'm not convinced i'm posting in the correct area but you guys all seem very knowledgable so thought i'd start here.
I am after a budget smartphone, don't want to spend a lot. My contract is paid for elsewhere but the phone I have has appalling battery life it's and HTC wildfire. I will list the features below that I use and would like, any recommendations are welcomed but I don't want to spend a lot of money.
The ability of downloading emails
Access to a sports app would be preferable, just to check football scores.
Bluetooth
A longish battery life, 2 days would be fab.
I like the look of Nokia Asha 501 but it's not available yet
Thanks

I picked up a Huawei Ascend G300 a few months ago for around £100. It has a decent screen and seems to run most apps but I suspect that it has been discontinued and it looks like the G510 is its nearest successor and I'm not sure how good the battery life is on that.0

The brutal thing is that battery life, even on cheaper smartphones, is generally dreadful. It's because of the very features you want - screen, bluetooth, modile data, apps, that most manage a day tops. For smartphones you really need to think differently about charging them, and have one charger by your bed and another (or a USB cable to charge from the computer) at the office or in the car.
You can get extra capacity batteries for many models though - they come as or with a modified back for the phone as the extra capacity means extra size. Try looking online (for instance http://www.amazon.co.uk/Extended-2200mAh-Wildfire-Replacement-included/dp/B005GU0YO6 NOT a recommendation, just an example) and you'll see that they make the phone chunkier, but you might get closer to 2 days from it.
Alternatively, get a baseline Nokia 100 £20 phone with no frills and the battery will last a week at least!0 -
You can improve the battery life just by changing some settings on the phone eg change the brightness, get rid of the moving wallpaper/screensaver and use a basic picture (eg a beach scene) for both.0

Take a look at the Huawei Ascend Y300
Quite a good phone for the money (£70)0 -
Thanks for all your replies, I think it's right that whatever the smartphone the battery life is poor so I've opted for a Nokia 100 that i'll use on the weekends and go back to the HTC in the week.
Thanks very much for your advice.0 -
Have you consider external battery bank?0
