Tax credits...current income higher than last years...what happens now

Hi

Please help :)...

I have filled in the calculator (for the childcare element of tax credits) with details of our income from last year which was low because me on maternity allowance and husband trainee solicitor.

This month I start a full time job and my husband will be a qualified solicitor in septemebr, therefore our current income will be much much higher than last years income.

Does this matter? And would we have to pay back money when they do the new calculations in April 2014?

I am new to all this so please excuse my confusion.

Thanks :)

You will need to call tax credits when a change has occurred if you are currently claiming. Failure to do so can be classed as fraud.

As soon as you start work, phone them.
As soon as husband's pay grade changes, phone them.
