Cleaning a George Foreman grill

I've lost my instruction book and our George Foreman grill is in desperate need of cleaning (we cooked some marinaded chicken on it and the marinade is gunged to the grill)

How do I clean it without damaging it?

Warm it up (plug it in) for a few moments, to soften any fats, then just wipe off. If its really bad use a plastic spatula carefully (they are supplied with one usually)
Take care not to get it so hot you burn your fingers!

As 'Hitch' says ... then throw it away and go and buy one with removable plates - saves all the hassle :).

Sorry this doesn't exactly help you with your current problem, but I've had a foreman grill for a few years - I would definitely recommend NOT using it for marinades or any items with a liquid coating. I know so many people who have ruined their grill. The marinades/liquids can be so difficult to remove and tend to take the non-stick coating with them.

    Good luck.

If it is really bad there are these sponge type things you can get from currys & places like that. here: http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0996498113.1181417615@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfjaddleemgfemcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=100699&category_oid=-23576

They worked quite well for me and dont scratch the grill plate. There is two of them in the packet. They are £2.49 here but i only paid £1.99 instore so if you really want to save its best to look instore:rotfl:

get a couple of damp J cloths and lay them on the bottom plate and leave the machine closed overnight.

The moisture will loosen the gunge meaning it can be removed with a brush tomorrow.

Just fill the sink with a little hot soapy water, take the grill to the sink and hook the front feet of it over the side, use a scrubby sponge to wet the bottom plate and you will find the gunk will start to clean off easily. Use the scrubby bit on the top plate but wring out the sponge first so no water drips down. A microfibre cloth is also good. All the dirty water just runs off back into the sink. I clean mine like this, had it for 4 years, looks as good as new.

Dont wan't to state the obvious but:

UNPLUG it before you clean it
NEVER immerse the whole thing water

I just use the soft side of a sponge with some washing up liquid and warm water.

Use 'Fairy' power spray, or supermarket's own brand
