Changing name on tax credit award

Hi
I'm wondering if its possible to change the name of my daughter on my tax credit award. (Surnames)
My children are both known by my surname even on my other benefits claims. I have tried to get in touch with tax credits but it's a bit of a nightmare getting through....I wouldn't bother changing it were it not causing confusion on HB claims etc.
Thanks

If you haven't already got through, then I'm sorry.
TC should ask if the name change is "legal". If it is, then they will change it over the phone. If its not, then they wont.
Unfortunately, I don't know what they define as legal.
Good luck.Anything I post on here is my own personal opinion, and quite likely not the view of my employer. My knowledge may not be up-to -the minute current, but I'll give you the best I can.0 -
Is it the name on their birth certificate? If not, then legally they are known by the names on the birth cert unless another document supercedes it such as deed poll, adoption certificate etc.0
