I have an Amex platinum cashback credit card and recently told them that I wanted to close the account (after I had collected the cashback). I referred my wife and she took over the next year's card adding me as a second cardholder so that we kept the good rate of cashback. Amex told me that if I kept my account open, they would pay me £25 in M+S vouchers which I duly accepted. Free £25 is not bad!
