Nokia Asha 300 not working

Options
My Nokia phone has had problems ever since I got it in the January sales (I will never go with Nokia again!). Now the touch screen has stopped working altogether so the phone is pretty much useless. I could take it back for repair as it should still be under warranty, but there is a pattern under the screen that looks like the kind of rainbow you get when oil is spilt on the road and gets rained on. Does that mean there's water damage? It's never been dropped in water but it did get rained on yesterday. I've read that there should be a spot under the battery that indicates water damage but my phone doesn't seem to have one.

  • No - that doesn't mean water damage.

That is the LCD display leaking. Your screen is broken, which means it has been physically damaged (this will explain why your touch screen doesn't work).

It isn't a manufacturing defect, it will have been caused by mistreatment somehow. They will not repair/replace this under warranty.

Perhaps the phone was sat on/dropped/other? Either way, your best bet will probably be to try taking it back to where you bought it from and play innocent, but do not be upset if they refuse to do anything about it. Your second point of call will be an independent phone shop, who could probably arrange replacing the screen for you for £50 ish usually.

Unless you fancy buying the parts off ebay and doing it yourself (for around £15-20 usually) - can be quite fiddly though.
