First Direct switching bonus - another question

I was about to close my Co-op Current account but wondered if I could perhaps add a couple of direct debits or standing orders to get the First Direct switching bonus. I could transfer the £1000 in monthly manually. Would this work or would they realise I had only just added the direct debits?

My main account is with a local bank and has a lot of direct debits going through it and as I have had it for a long time would prefer to keep my main account there as it has always suited my needs.

I opened the Co-op account a year ago to get the switching bonus but have since closed the direct debits on it.

Just do it.

BTW, you do not have to pay £1K into the FD account each month if you play your cards right. See other threads on that matter, or the FD website.
