Gumtree ads removed, but no reason given

I joined Gumtree about 10 days ago and posted three adverts. One for an iPhone 5, one for a lawnmower and one for a small boat. A week after posting I went to look at the ads and I saw they had all been removed.

I contacted support and they replied saying they were in breach of posting guidelines and had been removed, and my account was suspended due to 'numerous breaches of policy'. I have written to them both via email and post but they have not responded. Plus their phone number is a 35p per minute number.

I have rechecked my ads and can't see anything wrong with them (i have also read through their posting guidelines)!

Anyone had this problem before, at the very least I want Gumtree to tell me why they removed the ads and suspended my account. It infuriates me that they won't respond to my correspondences.

They suspect you're acting fraudulantly.

So they shut you down.

I'm susprised they didn't tell you why. I had a set of fish knives- blooming things- got a warning on ebay for listing them as being against their weapons policy so listed them on Gumtree as their policy specificaly stated household cutlery were exempt from the knife policy. They got pulled and I got a very long detailed email with explanations including a link if I wanted to appeal if I believed the removal had been in error.

I am perfectly able still to list on Gumtree

Yep that's what I thought, but I can categorically say I'm not! (and am pretty offended that they have assumed that without explaining to me why or giving me a chance to say anything). It's he lack of comms from them that's really annoying.

One thought, I'm surprised eBay were allowed to buy them, doesn't that give eBay a monopoly on web based advertising?

Nope, no monopoly at all . There are plenty of others in the market including Amazon.
