  • We recieved our confirmation text on August 2nd and we only got the paperwork through yesterday, so 12 days!! too long! we had to get our mortgage advisor to get head office to fax the copy through to our solicitors as it was taking too long by post :o/ Hope yours arrives quicker than that!

We've raised an issue with Nationwide over the second class postage of offers, as it appears to take them over a week to actually post the envelopes with the paper offers in.

Typically, from the date the offer is triggered, it's taking two weeks to get to the borrower and their solicitor.

Completion is a date agreed by all the parties in the chain. There is no way of knowing what motivation others have, so you simply notify your solicitor of your preferred dates and he puts them to the other solicitors.

You are not a passive observer here. You make a direct input into the selection of the completion date.

Once all the necessary documentation is in place, completion date can be agreed, contracts exchanged then completion take place on that agreed date.

Ours (back in Feb/March) took 3 weeks. Which I think is higher than most people's experiences of 1-2 weeks.
