Praise to Argos

6 year ago we purchased a pent metal shed from Argos (this) for about the last 12 months we noticed that the roof was getting worse with penetrating rust which was slowly appearing on the walls. it come to a point the roof become penetrating 90% rust, so it was decided that we would order a new one. On looking in the argos book we found the same shed and was about to order it when we read this in the description.
We then sent their letter and the pots to Argos Direct and a few days later got a call from them and their reaction was the same ' what did they expect you to do with them pots as it was clear in the photos it needed replaced'
Argos then asked if we could have the shed dismantled for them to collect and as they did not have that shed in stock they would refund us the full price paid.
so we hunted out the paperwork and found the delivery note for this, took this along with photos to Argos store who gave use details to contact Argos Direct. we did this by email along with photos and copy of del. note. they then gave us a ref number and details of the manufacturer as this was a Manufacturer's Guarantee, we sent them the same photos and del. note. a few days later we gat a letter from Manufacturer along with 4 x 10ml pots of touch up paint. we contacted the Manufacturer saying what are we going to do with 40ml of touch up paint, but they just said thats all they can do.Manufacturer's 10 year anti-rust perforation guarantee.

Well done Argos but I don't understand why you were looking to replace what you had with an identical item if it wasn't fit for purpose?0

It may have just been a bad batch and after 6 years they may have upgraded the material if they have had other complaints.Well done Argos but I don't understand why you were looking to replace what you had with an identical item if it wasn't fit for purpose?
We still needed a shed to store our bikes0 -

Unfortunately sometimes things break/don't work properly. I don't think there is going to be any product ever invented that has a 100% record with no faults.
Naturally as humans we talk more when things go wrong, so it's always nice to see more praise on here for companies.0 -
I'm looking for a shed to store my bikes and was looking at this. However it looks like it has no floor. How heavy is it? Can you literally just push it over and remove the bikes?
Would i need to secure the bikes to something to ensure they are safe or is the shed good enough to keep them safe?0 -
I know it was purchased from Argois, but as it was clearly a 'Manufacturer's 10 year anti-rust perforation guarantee' then it was really a Manufacturer issue to sort it under the guarantee, but as Argos had copies of the photos i took of the rust and the fact the Manufacturer only sent 40ml of touch up paint, which would not even do 1/4 of a panel, they refunded and asked for the shed ( most likely so they could return this to the Manufacturer along with the 40ml paint to recover what they refunded me)0

It has not floor, but has a floor frame with that you have 4 corner bolts that secure it to concrete/wood. Bikes were sake, but we still locked them up using 2 anchor eyes in the concrete along with bike locks
If you can afford a bit extra get this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7058488.htm Yardmaster are better constructed. pity when we got our shed Argos did not stock Yardmaster. My brother has a large yardmaster shed over 20 yrs and still no rust.0 -
