Paid credit card with no reference

Have to say the Barclaycard customer service is atrocious - spoken to 3 different people who really didn't understand the situation
that is standard, in my experience. you have to escalate the matter as quickly as you can & get through to someone in England who will actually listen & understand.
i've never tried it, but i'd have thought that your NatWest online banking would have guided you to enter a reference. no offence, but making sure that a payment to your account is referenced to your account is always going to be sensible.0 -
When I accidentally paid my Tesco CC without the reference I only had to make a single call to them, said what I had done, the amount and the date and they put me on hold for about a minute and then come back and said "I've found the payment you made and allocated it to your account". I'd imagine Barclaycard can do the same if they want to.
good. that is how it should be.:TTesco.0 -

Did the first statement mention the direct debit? I suspect it didn't.
Google "Barclaycard how to pay" would have done the job for you:

i don't use NatWest for a current account nowadays, but if you look to make a payment from most banks they will find the payment details for you. set that up for a girlfriend to pay my Barclaycard from her Halifax account the other night.0
