Tesco Clubcard card at Esso stations

Hi all,

Is it as advantageous in terms of Clubcard points to use your Tesco credit card at Esso stations as it is at Tesco petrol outlets? You obtain more points for purchasing fuel at Tesco than for ordinary purchases but I'd prefer to get Esso fuel if possible due to it being in a more convenient location and a lower price.

Tesco stores - five Clubcard points for every £4 you spend.
Tesco fuel - five Clubcard points for every £4 you spend (excludes Esso Fuel).
Everywhere else - one Clubcard point for every £4 you spend.

I think they now offer 1 point per £3 at Tesco Esso places (as in the Express stores colocated with Esso filling stations), so you'd essentially get 1.75 points per £3 using a Tesco CC. Don't think this applies to normal Esso stations though, that'd just be 1 point per £4.

So it is better to buy at an Esso garage than an 'Esso Tesco alliance' garage if I am reading that correctly?

Yeah until it hits £1.50/l, which I doubt will be long. Or for some reason you need more than 100l in one go...!

they are soon to standardise the deal for all Tesco, Tesco/Esso and Esso petrol stations, apparently.
