Must be a high value property if the policy costs over £300! Ask your solicitor why it is so expensive. For instance, my practice could arrange a policy giving up to £200K cover fo £40.RICHARD WEBSTER

That is really helpful to have some figures Richard and Hayzo. The flat is selling for £185K.
I've asked my solicitor to explain, then if they cannot reduce it, I think we'll get some quotes for replacing the window - though very unecological.
kirstym100 - thanks for your suggestion, apparently it would not pass building control now as the rules on efficiency have changed drastically in 10 years, so what would have passed 10 years ago would not now.0 -

I'm not in the know about such matters, but i always thought it had to meet building regs in place *at the time it was installed* - rather than current ones.0 -
PS not sure if it's of any concern, but I paid £274k for the house. Also, it was in April of this year.
