Ikea bed frame - Normal mattress?????

Hi guys,
Looking for some advice please.
We have a standard sized double Silentnight mattress, but we like an Ikea "double" size bed frame.
We have heard that Ikea make their beds in funny sizes so were wondering if anyone has an Ikea "double" bed frame with a non-ikea mattress?
Any comments on what the fit is like (i.e. is there a gap all round the edge) would be appreciated!
Cheers

Ikea traditionally have different sizes but recently have woken up and started to offer some of their beds in UK sizes. Ask in the shop and see if the bed you like comes in UK sizes. Otherwise, yes there is a gap that can be a pain ... I had one a few years ago and had to make a bolster to fill the gap and make it more usable."I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I think the width is standard, but the bed is a couple of inches longer. My 3 teenagers have Ikea beds with UK mattresses and they seem fine."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I'd read a few other threads on here that refer to Ikea beds before you buy.0 -

As you can see from the sizes in my previous post, some sizes are closer than others. It's not too bad if your mattress is smaller than the base (as long as you don't mind the gaps), but don't use a mattress that overhangs the base, as this could damage the mattress. And as MORPH3US has a Silentnight mattress that aren't known for their quality, then this is very important to prolong the life of the mattress.0 -

A lot of companies do custom mattresses to a size as specified by you, depending on how much you want to pay.Slimming World: 1stone 11lbs lost in 11 weeks0

I have Ikea bed with UK mattress and there is a gap at the foot of the bed, about 100mm.
I bought the bed in Zaventem though, so it might be a European. 2000 x 1400
The mattress I got outside the house an old bloke up the road who moved out in a private ambulance a few weeks after moving in, so it is probably UK.
The gap isn't a problem, I haven't fell down it ... yet. The UK fitted sheet not fitting the UK mattress properly is a bit of a nuisance though.
