Guarantee changed

Hi I purchased a Sholley Trolley 2 years ago or less and it needs 2 back wheels ,I contacted sholley who said yes thats fine £16.50 and we'll send them. The sholley was supoosed to be 3 year guarantee but they are saying its only a 1 year guarantee. It's not the first one I have purrchased from them and they were 3 year guarantees.I'm having a problem trying to find the necessary papers to try to prove it was 3 years as paid £90 (a lot for me!) for the trolley. What can I do next?

Looking at archived pages from 2011 it was only a 1 year warranty.

If they are denying that there is a three year guarantee in place, it is down to you show that they are wrong.

If you cannot produce the three year guarantee papers then I fear you will struggle.

Do you have any proof of date of purchase?
That may be another stumbling block if you do find the guarantee papers.

When I bought it it said 3 year, now they are in new premises it seems to be 1 year.I purchased it in early 2011 ,wish I could be certain, found papers for last one purchased but not this one!!!!
  • Here's their webpage from November 2011 and it's a 1 year guarantee then.

As you purchased directly from the manufacturers, you have some Sale of goods rights against them, but you will probably need a written independent report stating that the fault is down to a manufacturing defect or poor materials.

You might have a good case for this claim to succeed due to the wording used on the adverts up to October 2011
Strong yet lightweight design should last 7-12 years and easily outlive cheaper limitations.

    2 points here though.

1.) 'Should last' doesn't mean it will

2.) From what the OP has said the main part of the trolley is fine (which is what i expect that refers to). Would the wheels be expected to last 7+ years or would any damage be regarded as wear and tear, especially after 2 and a half years.

I agree, but as this quote was used to entice customers, it might help sway a decision if it did get to a any sort of legal action.

Saying that though, for the sake of £16.50, getting the wheels from Sholly may well be the quickest and easiest option as obtaining a written report stating a manufacturing defect may take some time (if it's even possible).
