Credit card insurance

in Credit cards
I just got my new C1 cc through the post this morning, and had to call to activate it, and the person I spoke to was trying to sell me all sorts of insurance premiums to cover not only this card, but any other credit/debit cards I own!
In days gone by I'd have felt rail-roaded into just agreeing to whatever they suggested, but not now
... and I asked for some time to think about it (so I could come here and check with the experts first
)
To be honest I'm not sure there's any point in me taking out insurance against theft or loss, as it will never leave the house and only be used for online purchases. I don't work so don't need payment protection insurance.
So is there any other reason that I might benefit from any form of insurance or is this just their way of getting extra money out of us

I'm glad I asked them for time to think now ... and I've thought ... and they won't be getting extra money off me for insurances LOL!

The "insurance" they were offering was probably Card Protection Plan. The main advantage is that if your wallet is lost or stolen, you only have to make one call to cancel and replace all your cards (even including stuff like your Tesco card, etc). The chap at Cap1 sounds like a pretty lousy salesman if he didn't actually explain the benefits and just went for the sale though.0

I don't doubt that for some people it would probably benefit them to take out the insurance, but the only way my cards could get stolen would be if someone burgled my home and took them, and (I think!) they're covered under my home insurance in that event
