I was first introduced to this charity I think via this site on the pet forum. My heart went out to the hard work and devotation that goes into this charity. Its based in [SIZE=+0][SIZE=+0][SIZE=+0]Bulgaria but run by a UK family who moved there to help stray animals living on the street.

If anyone has been on holiday to other countries in europe then they will know how many strays there is and how underfed the animals are. On my trips to greece and turkey i've given up my food to feed stray animals but there is so many its overwhelming.

I know charity starts at home and so on and I do donate when I can to local animal charities and dogstrust, rspca etc but I feel that Rudozem need it more at the moment. I've just read a few stories of them having to leave animals as no space at all left in the shelter and the puppies and kittens have died as a result.

They are also facing being closed down due to lack of funds.
If you look here you can find out a little more as its a lot to explain,

Anyway other than me adopting an animal which I plan to do in the future from them if possible I really want to help raise money.
I have no money myself as on benefits but I feel I have to do something for them. I've helped 2 strays in the last 2 weeks at my own local area, taken them in and put posters up for owners and given them over to dogs warden but kept in contact to make sure they are rehomed. I now feel that my life is intended to help animals.

I would love to give up my time to raise money but stumped at how to do it.
I could just ask for donations but as my family are all quite strapped for money and raising money for cancer (my aunt died recently) they don't have much to spare.
I feel like i have to rely on strangers more.
I know you can sometimes fundraise at supermarkets for the day by packing bags but not sure how you go about it? Also as the charities in Bulgaria they may not be happy as its not offical a uk charity I suppose.

Any help and ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Also I am not very fit but could walk 5k I feel but would only earn say max £50 or so if am lucky doing this as don't know that many people.

  • We did a fundraiser where we asked local companies to donate prizes (a hamper of chocs, a pamper treatment at a beauty salon, a meal for 2 at a restaurant, etc) and then printed off a quiz sheet which we sold for £1 each. The questions can be quite simple - maybe animal themed to fit your charity. You put an email address at the end, and a closing date by which people need to email you their answers. Then you do a prize draw, picking winning entries out of the hat to win the prizes. There's very little cost involved, as you can make up a quiz sheet on the computer and photocopy it. We sold 1,000 copies, making £1,000 for a local cause. But you could do as few or as many as you like and get them sold to family and friends. If you hand them out to friends and ask each one to sell 10 copies, it makes things a lot easier. Good luck x

Rather than do a quiz would it not be easier to just buy a raffle ticket book and do a normal raffle. Just rather than reading through tons of answers etc.

I think people always give money if they feel that there could be prize at the end.

I just want to raise as much money as possible. I'd like to do it for more local animal charities but feel that Rudozem Street Dog Rescue desperately need it right now.
