Enough Food?

I'm looking for any feedback or opinions regarding food/drink at our wedding next year (we are worried that there may not be enough food for everyone)

We are picking up guests by coach at 1pm to arrive at the wedding ceremony venue for 3pm.

Ceremony commences 3.30

Ceremony ends at approx 3.50pm where all the guests (88 of them) will be offered a bottle of pear cider and a small bag of warm popcorn (the ceremony is in a 1920's vintage cinema) whilst we have photo's.

4.30 make way back to the coach's to arrive at reception venue at 5pm

From 5.30pm guests will be called table by table outside to a "funky, music festival catering van" where they will be served a handmade 1/4 pound burger, salad and chunky chips.

Dessert will be wedding cake

approx 9.30pm snacks will be served ( 45 Tacos, 45 Hot Dogs)

11pm night ends, guests get back on coaches and arrive home approx 1.15 am

Is this enough food?

Thanks in advance for you comments :)

i would maybe offer an alternative to popcorn, not everyone likes it, and one taco or hot dog isn't very much to soak up the drink, the hot dog is very similar to the burger, too samey maybe?

You could have those tiny ice creams with the little spatulas after the evening food like we used to get at the pictures....i'm old by the way!! Maybe offer a non alcoholic alternative as well as the cider?

Its a heck of a coach ride - maybe get one with a toilet especially if people have been drinking before they go home?

    Love the ice cream idea!

Didn't think of a non-alcoholic alternative as there are no children at the wedding and everyone's a big drinker lol....having said that, maybe not everyone will wish to start drinking in the afternoon so a very good point

the choice of food is yours..and whatever you provide I'm sure your guests will eat it...

Although when you list what food you are having it doesnt actually sound a great deal or a great variety....

Pear cider...I assume this has a significance to you...but you could consider an alternative sparkling non alcholic drink elderflower maybe for the non drinkers....

Maybe choc ices if its a cinema and in the summer...or even retro sweets

Burgers are fine but I would also do a side salad rather than just the standard lettuice etc that it comes with....it will help people to bulk out their meal a little

Tacos and hot dogs...as mull said a little similar to the other food earlier...but not knowing the set up its difficult to suggest an alternative....

Do you have any vegetarians...they might struggle with the menu

How many guests are you having...45 or 90...I'm assuming this on the basis of the taco/hot dog split

Do you intend to supply anything to drink for your guests other than the pear cider in the afternoon?

yeah, got toilets on the coaches for the journey home (although the company have said to quote them "Number 1s only in emergency"
  • Some of these guests are OAP's ? Burgers, Tacos and Hot Dogs ?
My gran would turn in her grave (RIP). Note she actually wouldn't but remember the Garlic bread Sketch by Peter Kay. She thought it was for real, and do you know what? They served hot dogs,..I mean Hot dogs....at a wedding...
I think you should have a big VAT of hot pot and a Veggie aalternative.
Personally I think you need 90 of every item, as I'd like to try both and then sneak back for another.

Maybe a jug or two of a non alcoholic fruit cocktail with a cinema type name? Make one up to suit the theme? or my favourite J20.......i'm not a drinker as you can probably tell...what about a buffet at the lunchy time bit and the burger van/ ice cream van later on, or vice versa? just so you can give your guests more of a selection of food?
