I've grown Alicante commercially and we'd have gone out of business if they performed like yours!
It sounds as if they are stretching up to the light. There internodal spaces shouldn't be much longer than 10cms.0 -
As said many times, it is lack of light.
Don't stop them at 3 ft as suggested, 6 feet is fine, even 8 if you get started early.
You didn't start them indoors on a kitchen window cill did you?, March light/lack of, is usually the culprit,
You may be better buying strongly started plants from a decent nursery next april;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
So maybe I should cover the roof in may. what should I use eg black bin bags perhaps, if I stick them on the roof. Any more help again would be appreciated. The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0

As said above, it's more light you need, not less.
;)
Again, it will be lack of light at the raising stage, or the same when planted up/out.
(Or both even);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
