Afternoon forumites, a few ideas about the below Lenovo please. I was asked and I said it seems ok but I also suggested that I knew some other people may give us a heads up.
Basically it's for a small business, small payroll a bit of Excel/Word , plus Skype use, and the usual Netflix/iPlayer and Photos and of course the obligatory Internet.

http://www.dabs.com/products/lenovo-b590-core-i3-2348m-4gb-500gb-dvd---rw-15-6--widescreen-1366x768-win-7-pro---win-8-pro-64-bit-8MW8.html?refs=54580000-51340000&src=3

It is i3 2348M , 15.6 in screen , 4 gb, 500gb hdd, wireless+ethernet 2ea USB2 / USB3, webcam.
£348 which seems OK to me but others may have better ideas or even worse don't touch it with a bargepole.

Over to you guys please

Edited - Oh I forgot it comes with W7 which makes it better in my eyes.

Wouldn't be for me. Would at least be looking for something that included a on-site warranty for not a lot more.
£350 for a second Gen i3 looks nothing special at all. But not too many bargains available at the mo.

I agree with NiftyDigits here. It's not really that special. Particularly when Dabs are doing a similar model with a 3rd Gen i3 for £320ish: http://www.dabs.com/products/lenovo-b590-core-i3-3110m-4gb-500gb-dvd---rw-win-8-home-8NWC.html?src=2

The August bank holiday & pre-University period is soon upon us, if you can wait, you'll probably find a decent bargain.

I couldn't find many either but I'm not at home at the mo and the connection here is dire...

Yes the 3rd gen looks ok , but the selling point of the 2nd gen one was W7 Pro/W8 Pro upgrade...

There's not all that much more you'll get out of the Pro version compared to the Home one

It's ok but for spreadsheets I would want a higher resolution display to make it easier to view many cells.

Only Microsoft could make retro-returning to Windows 7 an option restricted to the Pro version of Windows 8.

    :rotfl:

It reminds me of when they made an upgrade that could be added to the "Ultimate" version of Windows 7.
