How much school uniform do you have per child?

Since DS started f-time school, I had 5 polo shirts and 5 pairs of trousers. I started with 3 sweat-shirts and built up over the years. He spent 3 years in the same size sweatshirts. I had this much cos with a younger child at home and studying/working or both on top. I always felt happier knowing if worst came to worst I'd got a weeks worth of uniform and could catch up on washing at w/end.
Now DD is about to start f-time school and I am going to have more time at home without children, plus I'm now buying 2 lots of uniform and wanted to cut the expense. I think I should be able to cut back on how much I get. I've just no idea how much so was wondering what other people did.

Blimey, the only thing I had more than 1 of was shirts. :rotfl:
That said, uniform is so cheap now, even compared to when I was at school in the 90's.

my son has 5 trousers and 2 shorts, lots of polo shirts and about 3 fleeces - he seems to be a dirt magnet and his shirts get filthy so we do go through loads of them, also I find that this time of year his trousers are getting too short for him but as there is only one term left I just let the hems down on his trousers, I am not buying more trousers for this term

my daughter in the winter has 3 pairs of trousers, 3 shirts and 2 cardigans, in the summer she has 3 dresses and one skirt

My son's nursery uniform is pale yellow and shows everything.... so we have 5 x polo tops and 5 sweatshirts. Most of these were bought 2ndhand from the school for 50p so it's not a problem. My older boy has about 4 x sweatshirts and 4 x polo tops, probably 3 x trousers, 2 x shorts.

It's a while since mine were at primary school but they always had stacks of school uniform for the same reason as the OP, I worked fulltime and sometimes you can't be bothered putting the washing machine on in the evenings. As someone said up the thread it's so cheap now you can get lots and it's unlikely to fall apart before they grow out of it.

5 Shirts, 2 trousers, 2 sweatshirts plus a certain amount of the old out-grown stuff in case of dire emergencies.
We've only ever had one pair of school shoes each child though, so there have been a couple of emergency dashes to get replacement shoes after accidents!

DD is in her first year of primary and has two cardigans, three polo shirts, one skirt (well two but one has gone too small in the last few weeks) and three summer dresses (but she will only wear these when she has nothing else as she doesn't like them!)

It has worked for us although there have been many times when we've needed to wash her uniform mid-week. It all dries pretty quick though and doesn't need ironing.

From next year I will be making sure we always have five polos I think, as it's those which tend to attract the most dirt (her lunch usually). They're £7 each though so she will be wearing the three from this year until they literally no longer reach the waistband of her skirt!
