Could someone tell me if this is right

I sent this e-mail earlier in the week:

Hello

I bought a pasta maker from yourselves using a groupon voucher at the end of October. It has only been used 3 times and some of the metal coating on the roller has started to come off and go in the pasta that you are trying to roll out so it can no longer be used. I am really disappointed that this has happened and would like to know what I can do about this as it is clearly not fit for purpose, lasting a reasonable amount of time or of a satisfactory quality and therefore in breach of my statutory rights

kind Regards

They have replied to say that the product only has a 6 month guarantee so the can't do anything, is that right?

Thanks

    No it's not.

Have a read of MSE's Consumer Rights guide, and their How to Complain article, and you will see that you have up to six years to complain to whoever sold the thing to you.

A guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.

No, but there may well be an issue of your method of purchase.

Presumably you paid GroupOn $X and they sent you a voucher. You send that voucher to the vendor and they send you the goods or did you have to pay anything to the vendor directly?

Your statutory rights exist between you and the vendor. By the sounds, things get complicated because you paid GroupOn to send you a voucher which they did and the voucher worked but there was no "sale" of the pasta machine itself.

I paid the postage to the vendor yes and other than that it was the groupon voucher.
