Just a quick one, HSBC randomly sent me a new chequebook through the post, I hadn't asked for one or anything, is this just standard? ie every so often they send you a new one?
Thanks

I think it's triggered by the presentation of (e.g) the 20th cheque in the previous book - I'm guessing anyway.0

ah I suppose that does make sense, I did recently write a cheque (for the first time in about two year)0

Thta is correct although the trigger will vary from bank to bank. The aim is to get a cheque book to you before you run out.0

I'm not surprised! I got a bank account with HSBC as well but hardly use it at all. They sent me three cheque books within a month last month. I just think it's a totally waste of resources and effort!0

IIRC, pre HSBC Midland used to put a marker on the account that determined at what number cheque in a book in use a new book would be ordered from the printer. I think there were three levels, so that infrequent users were on a low priority marker. With joint accounts 2 sets of cheques would be running and each culd be given its own priority. In jt cases you can decide and ask for only one book to be issued. I believe HSBC kept the same syatem0
