I wasn't sure whether to post in this section or the consumer rights one, so have posted my issue there:

(sorry, it won't let me post a hyperlink as it says I am a new user).
I am extremely stressed about how Yorkshire Building Society are not giving access to my money due to "technical issues" and would be extremely grateful for your advice.
Many thanks.

Do these technical issues stop them from giving you a counter cheque either payasble to you or to the solicitor you paid the money to?
As a side thought - has the money that you are trying to withdraw recently been transferred into the YBS account from elsewhere?

Thank you for your prompt reply and the hyperlink. I really appreciate it.
Yorkshire Building Society won't give me a counter cheque or any access whatsoever to my money.
The money has been in my account for a long time. So I don't think that's the issue.0 -

I was wondering whether you had triggered a money laundering check - but it is unlikely if you are just withdrawing money and don't have a history of large regular transactions on the account.
As Valli said in your other thread - get an official complaint in now and make it clear to them that you will be seeking compensation for any losses that you incure due to their "technical issues".0 -
My first thought is that for some reason with a large sum involved there is suspicion of fraud/money laundering. If so then YBS are by law not allowed to inform the person being investigated and so will fob them off with excuses. Of course any real crook will realise what is happening and the innocent will be given the run around and be left in the dark.0 -

If the "technical issues" thing does turn out to be a way of deflecting attention from checks, the good news is that by using a lie that makes things by their own admission 100% the fault of Yorkshire Building Society they're pretty much bound to either pay compensation on the basis that their systems caused loss or have to admit they were lying all along, which they can't do due to tipping-off legislation. For that reason, I'd wager there's a chance it actually IS technical issues.
OP's only option is to raise a formal complaint.urs sinserly,

The OP doesn't mention how much the payment was for , whether the account is operated online or in branch , whether the money has left your account or not , whether the transaction took place in a branch or online , whether you have checked that the recipient account number and sort code are correct (assuming it was the first payment using those details), whether it was necessary to quote a reference to identify your payment to the recipientWith any other bank I've used, a payment of this nature would have been paid in one hour through the Faster Payment Systems. Yet, after a week of contacting Yorkshire Building Society repeatedly and politely asking them to pay my money - even suggesting a few options myself of how they may consider resolving the issue - they are not doing so.
YBS only send payments once per day (using internet banking) and YBS provide a code via automated phone call which you need to enter online to authorise the transaction
of course there are a lot of posters on the thread with YBS accounts and know how YBS operate
Its not all guesswork with this lot
For instance, there are regular bugs with their online interface, such as I've never experienced with any of the major financial institutions.
The transaction was made online ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
