Can someone suggest a laptop that will be able to play latest games such as COD Black Ops 2 & Far Cry 3. I don't really want to spend more than £500.
Looking on ebay I have found one at £450 that looks good. Can I get peoples opinions & advice please.

Hi,
The word Gaming and laptop dont really go together unless you spend a lot of £'s. for £500 all you are going to get is a decent low end laptop.
A cheap gaming laptop is £1000+
The screen resolution is too low to play games too, a modern 7" tablet has a higher resolution!
Do you need the mobility of a laptop? you could get a reasonable gaming desktop and full HD screen for £500-6000 -
Thanks for the quick reply.
I got to say i'm a little confused as if you read the laptop that is on ebay it suggets it is more than capable of playing the latest games. It has dedicated graphics card; AMD Radeon HD 7640GHi,

THIS LAPTOPS GRAPHICS BEATS THE INTEL i3, i5 & i7 HANDS DOWN!
The integrated DirectX 11-compatible Radeon HD 7640G offers 256 shader cores of the Trinity chip and, thanks to Turbo Core, will operate anywhere between 497 to 655 MHz depending on the current application demand. On average, the graphics performance of the HD 7640G Integrated GPU is comparable to a dedicated Radeon HD 7610M or GeForce GT 540 / GT 630 graphics card and is much faster than Intel's HD 3000 and even outperforms the HD Graphics 4000 as found in Intel’s new Ivy Bridge i3, i5 and i7 CPUs.0 -
its right down the bottom of this list (although listed a few times for some reason)

I dont think you can play proper games on any of the intergrated intel HD graphics0 -

What utter nonsense.
Dont be fooled by the advert. While it would out perform the Intel HD's graphics thats not saying much, as they are only very basic graphics chips and will struggle with alot of games.
The GT630 that its compared against as equivalent is a very low end budget graphics card.
you will be able to play games, but only at low res and low graphics mode, especially for the newer games
Laptops simply cant compare to the performance of a desktop for Games.
Also the i3, i5, i7 etc are not used for the graphics so comparing it against a gpu is just silly.
Is there a reason you want a laptop rather than a desktop?0 -
Not really...i want to sell my PS30
-
If you are not bothered about carrying it around places, then a laptop would not be the best replacement for a PS3.
Id suggest getting a proper gaming PC, which should be doable with £500.
You could even use your current tv and not bother with a monitor, saving money to add more power to the desktop.
for example, something like this could work

Just add in windows 7 and change the graphics card to the 7850 for just over £500.
and would be considerably better than any gaming laptop0 -
The low resolution is actually the saving grace of latops.
It means you can "get away" with a much lighter weight GFX card, because they simply don't have to push the pixels.
I agree, £500 is too little to spend though, really. You ahve to pay more for less, but for some that's a worthwhile compromise.
FWIW, I spent £700 3+ years ago now on a Dell XPS 15 Laptop.
Basic spec was/is:
Intel i5
Nvidia GeForce 420m 1Gb dedicated gfx driving a 1366x768 screen
4gb Ram now upgraded to 8gb
Decent speakers - for a laptop
It has sered me well, it plays Metro 2033, Crysis 2, Deus Ex Human revolution, Civ 5, I play a number of flight sims (FSX, MS Flight, DCS AC10) and driving sims. I currently play Eve Online on it which runs fine though I could do with more screen real estate.
So, whilst a dedicated desk top machine will always win in both outright grunt and bang for buck, there are laptops that do a more than acceptable job for the middle of the road gamer.0 -
Having read the spec of that laptop - avoid. Not enough GFX Ram, and the Processor isn't a patch on the Intel offerings.
The Bumpf is clearly designed to confuse the uninitiated. Claiming it beats integrated intel HD graphics is really no claim at all. I can render 3D images faster than an Intel HD chipset with a pen and a pad.0 -
That laptop don't worth £445. Same machine sell at ebuyer at £3900
