Scam alert

I have been scammed, feel stupid and it has cost me money

I signed up for a trial of Raspberry Ketones and Xtreme Cleanse Plus at a cost of £4.95 each. Two weeks later and I have had two further payments come out of my bank for £95 and £80.

I've called my bank to have the payments stopped but they are Point of Sale payments so can't be stopped apparently.

I've looked for contact details on the website I got the trial from and there is a Customer Service phone number and when I ring it I get a recorded message saying this is customer services please hold the line and then it goes dead.

There is also an email address so I will try that but don't hold out much hope of getting a refund. I need to talk to my bank again to stop anymore payments coming out.

So be warned, this is a scam!!

What do you mean 'point of sale'? It's a fairly meaningless term in this context and simply refers to the place and time at which payment is taken. Do they have your long card number and they keep taking a regular payment from your current account? These are usually known as continuous payment authorities and it's ABSOLUTELY within the bank's power to stop this.

Go back to your bank and ask that they prevent any further payments being taken. Tell them that the Financial Services Authority's Payment Services Regulations of 2009 stipulate that bank's MUST cancel CPAs on the customer's request regardless of whether or not the third party is in agreement.

This probably won't get you your money back - the bank's not liable for this - but it will prevent further loss.
