Computer Remotely Reading Meter?

Is there a device available to constantly read the meter and analise energy usage daily/hourly via computer?

This would be extremely useful in our case to monitor high energy usage.

There is a way to automate the meter reading, which is done via a 'Chatterbox'. However this is more for businesses and organisations with high usage. Definately not for single residential use.

If you meet the requirements, you should be able to approach your supplier or gas transporter for further info.
