Hot air generator heating removal. Ideas?

Hello,
We have bought a house to do up and sell later on. The house currently has a hot air heating system, which we are going to replace with gas central heating.
The hot air generator is about 5 foot 10 inches high a cupboard by the bottom of the stairs, and has only 3 inches gape either side.
Does anyone have any pointers in the best way of pulling it out?
I can disconnect the wires on problem - the problem is that it is so big I'll probably have to get it apart to remove it.
Thanks for the help,
