Help - no record of PDL's?!

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a problem, but I have 3 PDL's that I was unable to pay back in 2010 and have since been managing them through a DMP.
Out of sheer curiosity I had a peek at my credit file through Equifax and none of these are showing on my file? Could they be impacting my record without declaring themselves? If they're not on my file does the debt exist?! I just have no idea if this is correct? I know they don't do credit searches but as I defaulted I expected them to have recorded my debt on my file?

Payday lenders were not required to report to credit reference agencies back then. The debts still exist. They can't be impacting your credit record directly when not showing up on the credit reports. They will impact affordability if you apply for credit and are asked about income and expenses.0

Thank you for your response James,
I'm not likely to be able to apply for many thing ever again anyway but does this mean that they can't register defaults/ take any action to recover the debt? Like I said, I am paying it and will continue to do so but what can they do if there's nothing on my file?0 -
They can take the same action to recover the debt whether it is on your credit file or not.0
-
You might also want to check the other CRA to see if they are reporting on them.
but yes, they can still enforce the debt.0 -
Does the six year rule apply? Ie how do I know if they're within their limits/rights to peruse the debt? Like I said I am in a management plan so assumed this was the reason for no contact from them, but does it mean they can't register the default/CCJ if they ever went down that route, or can they add it after the matter to my file? Thanks Cycrow ill check now.0

You are making payments, so the six year rule will not apply.
If you were to stop paying then they have 6 years from when you last paid or acknowledged the loan to legally chase you for it.0 -
Would only be statute barred if there was a 6 year period during which you neither acknowledged the debt or make a payment. Payments under the DMP count for that, so not, not going to be statute barred within the next 6 years if you are still paying.
Lack of a default on your credit file would not stop them going to court for a CCJ if you stopped paying. If you failed to pay any CCJ within one months, that would be added to your credit file and stay there for 6 more years.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you guys, that clears up that position. I'll keep paying them regardless and I'd rather not give them a reason to put them on my file. Hopefully it'll be a good thing and I can clear them without them ever impacting my credit score/report. How great would that be?! Good stuff :0)0
